The building was built in 1709 and used as the parsonage of the Misselwarden parish until the middle of the last century.
After serving residential and parish purposes until 1992, it became dilapidated and threatened to fall into disrepair. Numerous volunteers from Misselwarden made an elaborate restoration possible, so that the Old Pastor's House could serve for cultural events of various kinds from 1994.
In June 2010, however, disaster struck and the historic building was largely destroyed by fire. Only with the help of donations was it possible to rebuild it and the Old Pastors' House has been reopened since mid-2012. Run by the association "Bürger für die Erhaltung des Alten Pastorenhauses in Misselwarden e.V." (Citizens for the Preservation of the Old Pastor's House in Misselwarden), it can now be used again for various event purposes.
