Immerse yourself in an exciting journey through time at the Wilhelmshaven Aquarium - from prehistoric times to the present.
SAURIANS - GIANTS OF THE SEA
Giant marine dinosaurs from the oceans of bygone times await you at the magnificent new exhibition. Measuring up to 10.5 metres in length, the fascinating dinosaur models provide an impressive demonstration of who ruled the sea in the Middle Ages.
But it's not just the sea giants that provide an insight into the primordial ocean. With the help of fossils and various media stations, you can learn interesting and exciting facts about this exciting period of the Earth's history.
A special highlight is the "palaeoaquarium", on whose 10-metre-wide screen 3D animated marine dinosaurs swim right past you!
PRECIOUS SEA MUSEUM
You will find fascinating details about the origin of life in the Primitive Sea Museum. Here you can take a journey through all the ages of our planet. With the help of more than 500 original fossils, you will learn how evolution has created various animal and plant species over the past 4.6 billion years, especially in the aquatic realm.
Trilobites, armoured fish, coelacanths, fish dinosaurs, prehistoric sharks and many other fossil witnesses of past life give you an idea of the evolutionary developments that already took place in the primordial ocean.
On arrival in the Quaternary period, i.e. the present, you can observe the result of evolution: Life on land and in the sea.
AQUARIUM
Experience the wonder worlds of the oceans and discover iridescent schools of fish and colourful corals. Let yourself be fascinated by the underwater world with seals, rays, sharks, penguins and many other sea creatures. But breathtaking creatures also await you above the water's surface, including nimble tree monitors, camouflaged insects and a 3-metre-long snake. In the tropical hall, pygmy marmosets climb from branch to branch and birds fly around freely.
All further information about your visit can be found at aquarium-wilhelmshaven.de.
And our tip after the dive:
Maritime souvenir shop & PANORAMA self-service restaurant with a sensational view of the North Sea and the UNESCO Wadden Sea World Heritage Site..
