Our green beach is only about two and a half kilometers northeast of the city center and invites you to relax in the North Sea directly on the dike in summer. A sunbathing lawn with beach cabins awaits you on this stretch of beach.
Not only are you tempted to jump into the cool water here, you can also watch large ships on their way to and from the Elbe all day long and at any time of year.
If you want to get some exercise between sunbathing and a dip in the refreshing North Sea, you can play a game of volleyball or soccer. And as soon as you get hungry, the Freibeuter Strandbar on the green beach or the snack bars on the Ankerplatz behind the dyke look forward to your visit. Showers, foot showers and public toilets can be found directly on the outer dyke or behind the dyke.
The bathing area is monitored daily by the DLRG during the summer vacations in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.

Die Stadt Otterndorf erhebt ganzjährig einen Gästebeitrag. Tagesgäste ab 18 Jahren entrichten diese Gebühr beim Zugang an den Strand/die Freizeitanlage See Achtern Diek bei den Gästebetreuern des Nordseebad Otterndorf. Urlaubsgäste zahlen die Gebühr direkt bei ihrer Vermieterin/ihrem Vermieter. Bewohner:innen der Samtgemeinde Land Hadeln sind von der Gebühr befreit.
