In 1583, Duke Erich gave the order: "A cellar is to be built and a house suitable for a town hall is to be built above it." The construction of the town hall was thus a done deal. In 1685, an extension was added to the building, whose wall and ceiling paintings were restored in 1994/95.
Today, town council meetings are still held in the council chamber. Civil weddings can also be held here.
