The ''Hoog Stool'' was operated by the DGzRS from 1883 to 1947 as a distress observation tower on the harbor dyke. However, with advancing technology such as radar and radio, this type of observation became superfluous.
After a long period of consideration and construction, which was due to the fact that there were no documents or no construction drawings that were accessible apart from a few historical pictures and it was particularly difficult to find seasoned oak wood in the large dimensions, the tower was completed on 28.06.2019 the completion of the sea observation tower "Hoher Stuhl " as a landmark of Horumersiel was announced to the public.
For safety reasons, it may not be entered. The size and dimensions of the former building are also remarkable from the ground
