The Kopperhörner Mühle is a Dutch windmill on Mühlenweg in the Heppens district of Wilhelmshaven, about one kilometer east of the town hall.
Originally built in 1547 as a trestle windmill, the building has been a Dutch mill with a gallery since 1839. It was bought by the town in 1922. The mill was renovated in the 1980s, but was severely damaged in a storm on September 15, 1994.
The Kopperhörner Mühlen-Verein operates the mill, which has been fitted with a new cap and new sails. In addition to the operational milling technology, historical milling machines can be viewed. The museum in the Kopperhörner Mill shows how grain was processed into flour in earlier times.
Due to the renovation of the gallery and planned renovation of the entire mill, it will only be open to visitors on German Mill Day (Whit Monday, 20.05.24) in 2024.
After the renovation of the gallery, further work is planned on and in the mill. The extent to which these will allow guided tours of the mill can only be decided depending on the situation.
