If you want to marvel at it up close, you have the opportunity to discover the lighthouse from 1909 on a guided mudflat hike from Dangast.
Built on the sandbank of the former island of Arngast in the Jade Bay in 1909/1910 as an orientation/guidance light for the Jade, the lighthouse was permanently manned by a guard until 1967. Nowadays, the Arngast light is operated by remote control and remotely monitored by the Wilhelmshaven radio location center.
