As a traditional location for the Bundeswehr's floating units, Wilhelmshaven invites you to visit the navy. German Navy frigates and supply vessels are still stationed here today on a pier length of over four kilometers and await their worldwide deployment on 38 lock-independent berths.

A group of divers is also stationed in Wilhelmshaven.
The naval arsenal is the repair yard of the German Navy. It is located in the inland port area and can be reached by the naval units via the new outer harbor and the sea lock.

Other Bundeswehr offices at the Wilhelmshaven site include the Bundeswehr Logistics Center, a medical center and the Wehrwissenschaftliches Institut für Materialuntersuchung. The sea lock is the largest in Germany and the second largest in the world.

The naval base can only be visited as part of a city tour or during open days in the summer vacations.
