This idyllic beach has grown naturally due to sand deposits and the surrounding reed belt creates a natural bathing area with a direct connection to the sailing harbor.
Sanitary facilities in the form of mobile toilets are available in the immediate vicinity during the season. As this is not an officially designated bathing area, it is not guarded by the DLRG. Cape Jakob is a natural beach, so you will come across the odd piece of marine debris, e.g. driftwood. Swimming on this natural beach is at your own risk.
The Kap Jakob natural beach is also the meeting point for the family mudflat walks. Tickets for the mudflat walks are available from the Tourist Information Office, the Spiel- & Spaß-Scheune or the Ticketshop.

Die Stadt Otterndorf erhebt ganzjährig einen Gästebeitrag. Tagesgäste ab 18 Jahren entrichten diese Gebühr beim Zugang an den Strand/die Freizeitanlage See Achtern Diek bei den Gästebetreuern des Nordseebad Otterndorf. Urlaubsgäste zahlen die Gebühr direkt bei ihrer Vermieterin/ihrem Vermieter. Bewohner:innen der Samtgemeinde Land Hadeln sind von der Gebühr befreit.
