Coast
The coastal region near Minsen is part of the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site. In the Elisabeth - Außengroden, directly behind the dyke towards the Wadden Sea, there are salt marshes.

The salt marshes in the Außengroden are up to 500 meters wide and a total of eight square kilometers in size, making them one of the largest salt marsh areas in the Lower Saxon Wadden Sea.

The salt marshes near Minsen may not be entered as they belong to protection zone I.

Excursions through the salt marshes take place regularly in cooperation with the WAU e.V .

The "New Wadden Sea" begins behind the salt marshes. The islands of Wangerooge and Minsener Oog can be seen from the dyke.
