Starting in Emden, the second stage follows the Larrelter Tief towards Mahlbusen. The route then continues through the small villages of Rysum, Loquard and Campen towards the North Sea coast. Following a short section behind the dyke, the route turns slightly inland again towards Grothusen, Manslagt and Neu Etum.
Pilsum is reached at route kilometre 41. The round village was built on a dwelling mound (settlement hill). The Pilsum lighthouse is particularly well known. The red and yellow striped lighthouse is one of East Frisia's landmarks and has frequently been used as a film set. It's only a few kilometres from the lighthouse to the end of the stage, the fishing and artists' village of Greetsiel.
