- Start: Wilhelmshaven
- Destination: Varel
The stage starts in Wilhelmshaven on the south beach, where the route passes the fishing hamlet of Banter and heads westwards around the Jade Bight. Leaving Mariensiel behind, the North Sea Cycle Route crosses the Ems-Jade Canal once and then follows the shore for a short distance. You will encounter the impressive baroque moated castle of Gödens on your right as you cycle towards Neustadtgödens, which today is considered the most beautiful castle in East Frisia.
You reach the oldest coastal resort on the North Sea coast through Ellens, Blauhand and Ellenserdammersiel: Dangast. The route then leads directly along the coast again until you reach Varel harbour. The end of the stage in Varel is only approx. 4 kilometres away. We recommend a shopping trip in the charming town centre here.
