Down the Elbe from Cuxhaven to the Hanseatic city of Stade - along the Elbe through inland areas.
Starting at the Kugelbake, you cycle up the Elbe through the old fishing harbour of Cuxhaven with its historic fish halls, which still sell fresh fish to this day. The route continues close to the Elbe to Otterndorf with its historic old town. From here, you leave the Elbe and head inland passing the Hadelner canal, the Wingster forest and along the Oste river.

In Himmelpforten, the route leads through the magical Christmas village. Countless children from far beyond Germany's borders send their wish lists and letters to Himmelpforten every Christmas because they believe that Father Christmas and the Christ Child live there. What's more, they receive a reply - from the Christkind post office in Himmelpforten.

The route continues to the Hanseatic city of Stade - the historic old town, surrounded by a moat and ramparts, reveals its maritime flair. Quaint shops invite you to take a leisurely stroll, half-timbered houses on the harbour host quaint pubs and cafés, and anyone interested can swap their bike for a SUP board or canoe - the Schwinge, which flows through the city, is a wonderful spot to enjoy water sports in the heart of the city. Culture vultures can visit the Schwedenspeicher museum, the Greundiek museum ship and other museums before rounding off the day in one of the many restaurants.
