- Start: Stade
- Destination: Hamburg
Leaving Stade, you cycle along the River Elbe directly to Hamburg. Along the way, the route leads through the largest continuous fruit-growing region in northern Europe - the Altes Land - just outside Hamburg. Be it in spring when the apples are blooming or in summer and autumn during harvest time - the landscape boasts more than 20 million fruit trees and is colourful and beautiful at any time of year. This is the place to take a breather: fruit farms offer visitors coffee and cake, guided tours, fruit picking and other activities.
As you head a little further along the route, you will pass the former Elbe island of Finkenwerder, where you will also cycle past the premises of the large aircraft manufacturer Airbus. The highlight on this stage is the trip on the harbour ferry from Finkenwerder to the other side of the Elbe, which takes you downstream past many sights. Is there a better way to explore Hamburg than from the water? The journey ends at the Landungsbrücken and you have arrived on the other side of the Elbe in Hamburg.
